Old £10 notes no longer legal tender!

As of 1 March 2018, old tenners, the ones with an image of Charles Darwin on the reverse, are no longer legal tender.

At St Albans District Credit Union, we are no longer able to accept or exchange these notes.

If you still have some of these old notes, your options are:
– posting old notes to the Bank of England or visiting it in person at Threadneedle Street in the City of London, and it will exchange your old notes for new ones. The Bank has an open-ended promise to exchange old notes at face value at any time.

– trying at your local post office, although they have no legal obligation to accept them
